Our Saturday Morning

Does it get any better than this?
(Bet you are starting to wonder if we are raising violent children!)

Smile!

I have LOVED being home all day with these two. They are partners in crime, each other's alibi, enemies and the bestest of friends. I'm constantly smiling.

A Tender Heart at a Tender Age

He's only four, but my little boy surprises me with his tender heart and comprehension of things...in ways I thought impossible of a boy of his age. Knowing as a parent what my child may be able to handle and grasp, I made the decision to discuss what has happened in Haiti on our car ride home from school the other day. I felt that involving my little one (so tender and sweet) in prayer before our Heavenly Father for those in Haiti; was important.

On our way home from school, I apprised him of the situation in the best way I knew how, keeping it as simple as possible by only explaining that an island off the coast of the United States had an earthquake that shook everything. The buildings and homes broke and many people were hurt and are now without food, water and doctors. I took time to say that we do not know why this has happened, but we know that God is in control and we needed pray to God to care for the people.

His response, "Mommy? I think we should pray for these people."

"Okay, honey. We will as soon as we get inside the house."

"No mommy. We need to pray now."

So I willingly crawled in the back of the van parked in the garage....lump in my throat...eyes misty and held his hand and Nicks hand and together we prayed:

  • That those who are hurt would get to see doctors and nurses and get the medicine and help they need.

  • That they would have enough food and water.

  • That they would not be scared but would somehow know how powerful God is.

  • For those that are helping to able to find all of the hurting people.

  • For those who do not know where all of their friends or family are. Pray that those that are lost would be found.

When we finished, he said, "Mommy...God really hears all those prayers? Even mine?"

Yes. Yes He does.

And what was Kate doing whilst this sweet and tender moment was occurring you might ask?

She was scavenging the van floor and contentedly snacking on stale discarded bits of fruitsnacks, french fries and goldfish crackers.

The Meltdown

Since I've been working like a dog writing curriculum for one course, taking a course, starting a new job...on top of continuing an old job....on top of playing wife and mom...I haven't a free thought of my own. Soooooo...I thought I would at least not completely ignore blogging and post a sad, and somewhat morbid (since Jonathan did cry about his snowman's beheading....and Nick claimed Kate looked "cross"), photo of:
"The Meltdown"

Oh...and I provided a reference here.

BIG mess.

It's okay. It was entertaining. The charm wore off for Kate when she realized it wasn't an ultra colorful snack. Thanks for the messy, crafty fun Aunt KK!

Getting the word out early...

UPDATE:
The finished product. I thought when printed they needed a little princess bling. Doesn't everything need a rhinestone or two?

Now, if can only get to the post office to get stamps. Not an easy task with a 2 (almost) & 3 year old in tow.

...before i get them in the mail to guests next week! Ready to party?

A Frozen Wasteland

Is this Missouri or Alaska?
Okay...so it's not that bad...and it is kind of pretty! I took these photos from the inside as I have no desire to be outside, besides, I haven't showered and I'm still in my pj's. :) I have to admit cabin fever is setting in. I didn't get out to the gym this morning for a run but I'm not too terribly sad about sleeping in. However, I need more ideas to keep all three little one's engaged enough to cease the incessant warfare occurring between them! Okay Mother Nature...I know it's premature, but spring is welcome anytime now.

Wordless Wednesday

WINTERGEDDON!

I think Jason got the last gallon of chocolate milk at Target last night. This is the coldest, snowiest, ickiest winter I recall in my lifetime living in the Midwest. The snow over the last couple of weeks has not melted and NOW another 5 inches expected followed by an "arctic blast" (as it is being referred to) bringing...twenty below wind chill temps? I can barely get to the mailbox as it is.

Thinking warm thoughts for today, tomorrow................ and the rest of the week.

~Job Update~

Since people have been cautiously asking, I thought I would post about my job situation. As I sadly finish up the 1st Semester students (in Advanced Placement Government & Politics, World History and American Government) with the Missouri Virtual Instruction Program over the next couple of months, I will be continuing to teach World History and begin instruction for American Citizenship through North Kansas City's eCampus program. The great news is that I will also begin teaching online for KC Distance Learning (Aventa) this week. I am very excited I will be able to continue to remain within the realm of virtual education & more importantly, remain home with my two little ones rather than seek a full-time classroom teaching job. God has provided just as we knew He would! So although this month there will be a lot to juggle, things should smooth out over the next couple of months...we hope!

Armed and Dangerous!

" Who's my baby now?"
(You think she's a little sister to two brothers?)
We spent a very chilly afternoon housebound...AGAIN...so Nick, Kate, Jonathan and I played hide and seek for over an hour. Even Kate would take her turn...sit on the couch with her legs dangling off, chubby little hands over her eyes and count...sort of. I almost wee'd myself (a little) and containing laughter when hiding and witnessing all three kids run past me at least a half a dozen times even though I was almost in plain sight..."Mommy, where are you?" "Where's Mommy?" "She's a good hider"...but mostly because when Nick would spot me, he'd yell, "MERRY CHRISTMAS!"every time. Once the novelty of the game wore off (and all the good hiding places used), we moved on to the Nerf guns and shooting the front door over and over. Kate doesn't know how to load it, but boy does she know how to shoot it! Such a tom-boy princess.

Kazmaier Christmas

We had Kazmaier Christmas a week after due to Jeff and Shirlene (and family) being in Dallas celebrating with their family last week for Christmas. We feel our kids are getting to an age where they really interact with their cousins and have a great time. Jonathan is already asking when we can go back to Meme & Papa's!
