Getting older, but it keeps getting better!

            1. Sleeping in till 9am.
            2. Waking up to birthday signs, balloons, party hats & a cake (even though it had four candles because Jason swore I was 34, not 33).
            3. Cards from my little sweeties.
            4. Running socks picked out specially from Jonathan.
            5. A Salon Oasis Foot and Leg treatment from Jason...yes, my feet are really that bad.
            6. A cookie cake (my favorite) from sis, Katie.
            7. A fabulous babysitter (sis, again).
            8. A night on the town with my big sweetie...movie (Star Trek...I'm not trekkie, but it was GOOD) & dinner (Abuelos).
A REALLY HAPPY & SPOILED BIRTHDAY!

Kate's Renal Scan-GET ME OUTTA HERE!

This photo pretty much says it all! It was not a pleasant experience for either of us...worse for her, I'm sure..but I was on the verge of tears myself! I have never seen my daughter as upset as she was when having to be catheterized. She had this same procedure done when she was a mere 3 months old, but this go around, it was necessary to sedate her, given her age, for the hour long procedure. So all together, we were there almost four hours from the time she had her IV, to the time she came to after the sedation started to wear off. She slept another 4 hours when we returned home. We won't know the results till the end of the week...but we are confident that any dilation is just a result of her wacky and unique right kidney that matches her wacky and unique demeanour!

            Day out with Thomas

Our anniversary celebration ended early Saturday morning so we could rise and shine and head to Baldwin City, KS for the Day out with Thomas the Tank Engine. Apparently the boys didn't get a lot of sleep the night before...came as no surprise to us given the excitment of having a sleepover in cousin Austin's bed. So the boys were a little out of sorts...especially little Nicholas, so our time was cut short!

            Playdate with Greta & Jack

The kids had a wonderful time playing with friends Greta & Jack last week at a nearby park & at Greta &

Jack's house. Kate was so tired after such hard play and a yummy muffin, she crashed in the car was was snoring quite loudly...even the boys thought this was cute.

            Soccer Game: The finale

Soccer ended last Wednesday with the "big game". As you can imagine, there wasn't much of one with 3 & 4 year olds. Jonathan was a non-napper (well, he is a non-napper most days...but today hit him hard) so he was an emotional wreck...good times! :-)
            Next up: July t-ball..oh boy.

            Jonathan slammed heads many times...

Nick kept running in the middle of the game for a kick...not shy at all.

            Kate's a natural...never too early.

            10 year Anniversary

Jason's sister and brother-in-law were kind enough to take the kids for the night so Jason and I could escape to the Plaza and Crown Center for the late afternoon and evening. (Thanks Glenda & Theron!). We decided we were hungry for a 4pm snack at Cheesecake Factory and had an appetizer and this...mmmmmmm. We walked around the Plaza for a bit, picked up some more shirts for Jason, and then headed to our hotel room at the Hyatt. We took a little nap (yep...that's a gift in itself) before getting ready for dinner at the Skies. We picked 8pm so we could watch the sun set and reminisce about our lives...the engagement, the wedding, the six years before children and our crazy, but satisfactory, life now! I had the Fillet Mignon and Jason the KC Strip. We walked away utterly bloated and tired. :-)

            3,650 Days Ago...

3,650 Days Ago...I married Jason. Yep...if you can do the math, that's

            TEN YEARS!!!

So....what should Jason indulge me with?

            10th Anniversary Contemporary/Modern Gift:
Diamond jewelry. A marriage that lasts ten years is as durable and beautiful as a diamond, right?

            10th Anniversary Gemstone:
            Diamond jewelry or blue sapphire.

            10th Anniversary Color:
            Silver or blue.

            10th Anniversary Flower:
Daffodil. Trumpet-shaped daffodils represent joy, cheerfulness, and happiness.

Okay...I'm not big on jewelry (although, anyone would be crazy not to want a ring like that). And, well...daffodils (although they remind me of my favorite season, spring), are not on the top of my list of favorite flowers. All I really want is time alone with Jason....a rare treat these days! So we plan to run off to the Skyes restaurant, where we ate the night we were engaged, married (on our way to the airport before our honeymoon to Florida), our one year anniversary, five year anniversary and now, dare I say, our ten year anniversary! We have a room and no other plans...and to us, that sounds delightful. Now we aren't going to let this important marital milestone pass us by without celebrating in a big way...just a delayed way as we are planning an island getaway early June next year with some friends of ours. Crazy how time flies!

So in honoring my main squeeze and the bliss of the last ten years, a letter...

            Dear Jason,

If there’s one lesson from the past 10 years, I guess it’s that sometimes you can’t explain love. Everyone knows about the passionate part of marriage. What I didn’t know 10 years ago was that the passion only increases. The boy I married because I liked, loved and was attracted to, is now the man who has held my hand in labor three times, who tenderly nurtures our children, and who has supported me in every endevor...in every crisis.

There’s no doubt that our marriage, being grounded in faith, has worked for a decade, and will help make it work for years to come. I thank God every day for you, for the match He made in us... It's amazing to think of how far we've come, where we are, and exciting to think of where we are going with our lives stretched out before us. I'm glad we are in this journey of life together. I couldn't think of a better sidekick!

We’ve faced less-superficial challenges than making it another 10, 15, or however many years God decides to keep us on this earth together. Moves to places where we had no established relationships, fertility issues, financial struggles... the stuff of life. I’m thankful to have gone through it all with you. I’m thankful each and every day that I share a beautiful family with you. Our Jonathan, Nicholas and Kate are so precious, true blessings from God.

We didn’t decide to get married because we thought we’d be great parents someday. But as fate would have it, I married the best father in the world. I’d be remiss to not also tell you how much I love your dedication and sacrifice to me. Seems like the best marriages out there are those where two are one, unselfishly giving of each other. You’ve been a supporter of my dreams... you have supported me 100% in all my ventures & desires. I so look forward to many more years together. More todays of loving one another, caring for one another and, yes, bickering now and then with one another. We’ll be a little stubborn about sticking together. I still like you, I certainly love you, and I am more attracted to you than ever, but even that does not adequately express the passion I feel for you more than 10 years after you captured my heart. We’ll be friends and lovers to the end.

            With all my love,

            Emily

Our wedding day.....five years later...and ten years (photo to come. In advance, pardon our lack of agelessness!)

            Wordless Wednesday

I've seen this used on many blogs...so because it's wordless...I'll stop typing...
