Let's Play Ball!

We have been so blessed, despite this RAINY & GREY stretch, to have SUNNY practice days. And blessed that a Liberty teacher took the initiative to organize a league (A Leauge of Our Own) with 4 teams of 4-6 year olds. So far, Jonathan has really been enjoying his t-ball experience. They are in the learning stages of the game and his team, the Giants, start games in about a week. :) That ought to be entertaining!

He did it! Running with the Cows

That's right! My hubby finished his first 5K ever! I was so worried his first race (I say first because in my heart I hoped that it would not be his last) would be ruined by 50 degree temps and rain but he was quite the trooper and not only ran the race with enthusiasm, he placed 5th in his age group and 92nd over all (out of 340 people total). Time of 29:50. WOOT! He's ready to conquer another race already. I am SOOOOO very proud of him. I was sad that his race started 15 minutes after mine so I didn't see him start, nor finish...and I didn't get to see the boys run their first kids run either as I wasn't finished with the half marathon by then. Fortunately, they had a great cheering section...Gaga, Grandpa, Aunt KK and Uncle Mark braved the rain too in order to help & watch the little fellas do their best.

Always Watching

I never realized just how much this little girl is always watching me....until tonight when I witnessed her grab my tweezers and attempt to pluck the hair on her head. Why? She's seen mommy on her search and destroy missions. Grey hair.

Boy

It's so hard for Jason and I to comprehend the fact that this little guy is headed to kindergarten next year...in fact, it's hard to grasp the concept that he's defintely no longer a toddler but a full fledged active, playful, imaginative BOY! Yes...boy. In every sense of the word. Smelly, dirty, invinceable, and silly. As he grows and his "at-the-hip" need for me lessens, I feel simultanously proud and sad. To watch him run off to his group at t-ball practice with no fear or inhibitions...I realize, that although it's been in process all along, this really feels like the beginning of his independence and my inability to monitor almost every moment of his life. It feels as though life is in hyperdrive and although I have him under my roof for another 13 years, I know in my heart that those 13 years will be fleeting. Until then, I'm going to hug and love on my smelly dirty, invinceable, silly boy...and as I do everyday, I will ask him,
"You'll never be too big to hug and cuddle your momma, right?"
And I'll continue to hope that I get the same response everytime.
"Never"

Another Sunny Afternoon

Kate: I found her screaming and frozen still in the grass by the garden shouting, "Mommy...scared, mommy, scared!!!" My worst fear was that she spotted a snake (again)...but then considering she has so little fear that she picked a dead one up, that didn't make sense either. So what had her so frightened? Her shadow. Yep.Making friends with our shadows. GOOD GRIEF! MY THIGHS ARE HUGE!!!!
Jonathan: Hunting snakes with friend, Myles. When hunting snakes failed, I heard Jonathan say, "Hey Myles, let's kill ants!" Myles replied, "You know how you kill ants? You feed them sand." So off they went...with handfuls of sand.
Nick: Always the shadow himself...running after his friends, Jonathan and Myles. Fearless...no sense of self-preservation. More importantly, as sweet as can be. "Mommy, you're my best friend!" Awe schucks! (I wont' mention the fact that he'll tell me I'm no longer his best friend when he's mad at me).

AM I BLESSED, OR WHAT?

Another reason I have been neglecting this blog. I am booked through this month and although I love spending time with other famlies...I have decided to take June off to spend my weekends with my own family. :)
