We spent the majority of the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend in Clinton heading out Wednesday morning and then travled to Eudora for Thanksgiving (what fabulous weather) at the Votaw's at noon only to travel back to Clinton to catch the tail end of the family festitivies on the Miles side. It was nice to have my Grandfather with us and we were all amazed at how sharp he is after his ordeal. Friday evening we again enjoyed braving the cold with the kids to the downtown square Christmas lighting ceremony and lighted parade. We celebrated my mom's (10th as Jonathan declared it) birthday today and then headed back to Liberty to rest up for the next 3 1/2 weeks before the next BIG HOLIDAY!

Christmas Decorating!

Okay...so I've said in the past that I don't like winter. Still true. However, I do LOVE Christmas. All things Christmas! Especially as the kids get older and watching Jonathan get in to magic of the season. It's fun to see the season through the eyes of a child again...

Sweet Baby Kate

This little girl has added such sweetness to our lives and it hardly seems possible that almost 10 months have passed by since she joined our little family. It is already apparent that she and Nicholas have a special little bond being so close in age. He interacts with "shissy" constantly in the evenings and her face lights up whenever she gets his one-on-one attention. Having a daughter has been so much fun...

It's been a while!

I've neglected my blog for the past few weeks...just been so busy with life! Let's see...what's new?

Jonathan is continuing to enjoy school and has learned so much lately including fire safety. We were so proud of him when he came home and told us when to call 911 and what to do in case of a fire. This past weekend, Gaga asked him, "Jonathan, what do you do if there's a fire?". He replied, "You get out of the school!". She then asked him, "What do you do if there's a fire at home?" He replied, "You burn!". Suppose we ought to work on that one, eh? He is fully grasped the concept of Christmas and presents...he wants "lotsa, lotsa, lotsa of 'em!" as he puts it. Shamefully, we are already wearing out the "you better listen to mommy and daddy or Santa won't bring you presents!". He's three. We have to use it a lot.

Nicholas is growing and talking up a storm. It amazes me how quickly he has all of sudden started jabbering away. We were concerned about a possible speech delay...a concern no more! He has such contagious little sense of humor and loves to dance and make silly faces. I can't believe he turns 2 in just a month!

Katherine has four teeth now...two lower and two little adorable and goofy top teeth. She's using them to test the waters with table food and is getting the hang of it slowly. She's a fast little army crawler and is all over the house! She is such a delight! Her surgery is in a month and although I'm nervous about it, her last kidney infection proves it is a necessary evil.

We are preparing for the Holidays already...so much to do! I spent almost 11 hours shopping with my sister and my mom (who I can't keep up with...that woman can shop!) and I'm nearly finished with all of the Christmas shopping! We are headed to Eudora, KS this year for Thanksgiving and we are looking forward to Jim and Tara (brother and sister-in-law) coming from New Hampshire for Christmas this year. I love this time of year....but not the cold. Never the cold.

Halloween 2008

What an unusual Halloween...it was almost HOT. Who would of thought we'd have a 70 degree day? Jonathan insisted he dress as Buzz Lightyear and wanted Nick to be Woody from Toy Story. We were unable to easily find a Woody Costume so we broke out the "flamin' cowboy" costume Jonathan wore his second Halloween. Child abuse? Kate was a KU Cheerleader...Rock Chalk Jayhaw...GO KU!!! We had a fabulous time with friends, Kevin & Katie (and little Jackson and Gracie) and Nicole and Ryan (and little Kendric and Cadence) and Tommy and Nataliya (and little Daniel and ?..hehe). A little trick or treating in our busy neighborhood (us parents could barely keep up with the kids) was followed by some Chili and some good conversation.

Sick, sick, sick....

So we've dealt with two ear infections (Jonathan & Nicholas) and one kidney infection (Kate) in less than three weeks. And....to top it off, Nick woke up with a fever this morning. I have a feeling this winter will not be a pleasant one as far as illness goes. Ugh.
